I have often thought what certain colors would look like together so I decided to give some color combos a try. First up is orange and brown in a birthday card. I think I would be great for any guy on my list without being overly manly. I rather like the way it came out and super easy to make in mass if I need to.

What a cute little card to let someone you love know just how you feel about them. I found the perfect cup image on the Ultimate creative series cart and used my imagine and the elise pattern cart for the coloring. The saying on the card is a bit hard to see in this picture but says "just the two of us". I think it will be the perfect card for my hubby on our anniversary.

No more waste here

Ok so sometimes I manage to make cuts the wrong size and I hate to waste anything. I decided to put those wrong cuts to good use. Gift tags is my answer. I am always looking for a gift tag but never seem to have one on hand. So two problems have been solved. I guess I could just measure but what would be the fun in that. This new idea of mine also helps me use the left over paper I have from making one of my regular size cards. So here are the first two helpful mistakes....

Still working on my birthday card stash.....if I keep this up I can move on to anniversary cards by the end of the month....lol. With my unlimited creative cart and the Elise pattern cart this sweet little card came to life. Cupcakes are all 2 inches and the tag was cut at 1.5 inches. The whole card measures 9 by 4. Last step was to give it a spray of glimmer mist for some sweet sparkle.

Birthday cards

Well my birthday card stash is low so it's time to make some more. My new cricut imagine is worth it's weight in gold!! My favorite feature so far is that I can take an image from one of my existing cricut carts and resize and color them with one of the imagine pattern carts. In this case I chose an ice cream cone from the potpourri basket cart and colored them with the imagine Elise pattern cart. It's soooo easy and just buying white paper is going to save storage space in my craft room. Instead of doing all the cuts on different colored paper, they were all made on the same piece of white paper at the same time The tag on the card is from a set of images that came already stored in the imagine another great feature!!!! So here is what I made.........

My new cricut imagine

My wonderful hubby got me the cricut imagine for Christmas and I love it already. It took some doing to get my gypsy to talk to the imagine but it's all worked out now. I decided to get going on my birthday card stash because it's getting really low so this is the first thing my imagine and I created together. I rather like it. All I did was pick the cuts the sizes and the patterns load the imagine with white paper and it did the rest.....FABULOUS!!!!

I'm so excited this Christmas. I finally found the perfect gift for my husband. He loves bacon so much that he buys it by the whole pig. I was watching food network the other night and Michael symon was talking about this great deli that has a bacon of the month club. I was so excited I got out my laptop to check out. Well I needed to make him a card to put the certificate in and I just got two new cricut carts that were perfect. From my kitchen and country life. I hope he loves it as much as I think he will!!!!

I love my cricut!!! I made some beautiful wall art using the Cindy loo cart. Black paper for the cutout and a nice textured beige behind it for some contrast. I framed it in a 12 x 12 scrapbook page frame and added the red flower on the glass for a pop of color. I think it came out great!!! I might even use them for a great Christmas gift idea....ya never know......

A spicy new look

Maybe I was just bored today or my spice jars really did need some help. I used my preserves cart to make the labels and my yourstory to laminate them so they would last longer and my sticker maker to help them stick. After a hard crafting day I am happy with the results. I was going to buy a new spice rack but now I'm happy with mine!!!!

This was just a quick page I made for my daughter champagne. She is always being silly this time it was at the mall on an all girl shopping trip with me and her friends. She hopped up onto one of the kiddie rides in the middle of the mall. I just had to snap a shot. I wanted to keep the page simple so I left my cricut alone on this one. So without further ado here is the card i made. I tried to keep it simple with just a few found items in my crafting stash.........this time i left "Sally" my cricut with her power shut off. I just got this new paper that i knew i wanted to use. As I was looking thru my drawers i found this sweet large flower that seemed to brighten up the paper. Then came along these sweet little metal butterflies with a blue accent for the blue paper. Once I found all that the lace trim just jumped off the shelf at me. Well the high school football season is almost over here in upstate new york so only a few weeks left for me to make my little jv cheerleaders locker tags. I love to see the look on her face when I show them to her and I always take pictures of her putting them on the lockers.....I do need great pics for my scrapbooks!!!!

Hello every one, its week 3 into the high school football season here so another week of locker tags. It's all i seem to do anymore. This week i tried to make it easier for my daughter to hang them up on the lockers so i put magnets on the back so all she had to do was walk by and slap the up.....she wined about the tape i gave her. she got it all wrapped up on her fingers and made a mess. I can see i have alot to teach her about crafting!!!!

Well enough with the formalities lets get to the fun. The first card i have made to share with you all on day 1 of the hop is a general card made with cuts from my new favorite cart Create a Critter. I made the money, the vines and the sentiment from the same cart. I added some ribbon, an embellished paperclip and bit of glitter......every thing is better with chocolate and glitter!!!! Super quick and easy to make. I hope this gave you alittle crafting nudge. Check back tomorrow to see the same sketch but a different way.

Well it's locker tag time again at school for the big game this weekend. So I hit my favorite craft store this morning for supplies. This time I picked up enough to get me thru the rest of the football season. So without further ado here is what the best lockers are wearing Friday.....

Football Time

Well my daughter made JV Cheerleading.....Go Hawks!!!! This means I get to put my crafting skills to work every week making locker tags for her big sis cheerleader on varsity and her football players. The first game is tomorrow so the locker tag had to be cool she said. This is what I came up with.

Thank goodness for my cricut and the celebrations cart. I used the party hat to make the megaphone and the puff on top of the hat for the pom poms. Not bad for my first try. When I showed it to her she thought it looked plain and made me add teal and hot pink glitter dots. Oh well next time I'll keep that in mind

Well back to the scrapbook pages. The pictures are piling up and are screaming at me. This is a page i made of my girls. I also used one of the pictures back in june to make the father's day cards for all our dads. I wanted the page to be free flowing and fun just like the girls. The picture came from a trip to Jo-Ann fabrics. Both the girls hate to go craft shopping with me so as i was looking at all the goods the girls came up behind me and said....hey mom....turn around. I laughed soooo hard i could not breath.

This card is for my friend karen who is leaving our store family as well. She loves butterflies so i knew the card needed 1 or 2 of them. I am still in love with using my new create a critter cart so i used it again!!! The real funny thing is that karen just ordered new glasses the morning of her party and they are pink and black and so is her card.....she was excited!!!

Well another card for another event in my life. My best buds jan and karen after 13 years have decided to leave our store family and change careers. I call it a midlife crisis but.....they are happy and its nice to see. They both went and got their CDL licence and are going to dive big trucks.....WOW!!! So we are gonna have a get together and it required a card so her s the one i made for Jan. Soooo cute and sweet and fast to make. This little bee is wishing her well and letting her know she will "bee" missed but always remembered.

Then and Now

I decided today to show you all a "Then and Now" post. I started scrapbooking several years ago because i wanted to do something pretty with my wedding pictures. From there is has grown to a love of card making. I wanted to see just how far i have come so i got out the first ever page i make and compared it to the most recent page. Boy was i surprised.....i just might have to go back and redo some of the earlier pages. When i started all i had was some paper, my kitchen fiskars and an overwhelming feeling as i went into my local craft store. Now i have a whole room full of stuff but still feel overwhelmed at time. There are ten thousand ways to complete each project and its hard to pick one!! So i wanted to share my first page with you and my latest page. Here we go.....no giggling!!!

Lordy Lordy my husband is 40!!!

Today is a special day in the Miller house. Marc my husband is 40 today!! So while he is off at work for the day my daughters and i are getting to party ready. We have been together since i was 13 and i don't recall anyone ever giving him a birthday party.....boy do i feel bad. So here is the card that we will be giving him tonight. I wanted to do something manly but still cute and i think i got it......after 5 tries and lots of glue removal!!!

The next project i have today is a page for my wedding scrapbook. My husband and i got remarried in 2008 and yes i am still working on the album!! This turned out to be one of my favorite pages...... my wedding ring broke the first time we were married and he supprised me at our second wedding by having it all fixed and putting it on for me....LOVE HIM!!! I wanted to keep it simple but yet soooo pretty. The ribbon and the edging papers were scraps for another project and of course i keep everything!! I tried something different with the center picture and i think it came out so nice.

There is no better way to say happy 4th than a card with fireworks!! The card measures 6x6 and so easy to make. I used the potpourri basket cart to cut out the watermelon and some sweet party toothpicks for the fireworks. I know that the host at our 4th of July party this year is going to love it!!

A craft project from my girls

This time I have a craft project my girls made. My oldest daughter champagne collects duct tape. I know... Weird. She had every pattern and color you can think of. Who knew they made so many. Every time we go shopping she slips one or two in the cart. So my youngest daughter Caitlyn decided she could make something out of them. She started making these cute hair bows with just the duck tape and a Bobby pin. So inventive and cute. They both wear then every day. Always a new one to match the outfit.

Today we join the army with this cute little army bear from Meljen's Designs. What a fun card to make on a rainy NY day. The card measures 6 x 8 with an American flag theme. I used some odds and ends i found in my stash and it was done. If anyone has some tips on making good bows i would love to hear them. Unless i find one all tied i seem to have the worst time getting them to look good....thanks!!

Just a cute little card to say a funny hello to you. I have never made a tent card before but once i took a tip from Jeni, it was easy. The card measures 6.5 x 6 with a sweet Sassy Cheryl digi that i cut apart an separated around the circle opening on the cards. The circle is offset and is 4 inches. A little glitz and flowers and this little girl is ready to wish you a hello.

Something different today. Not my usual bows and lace but i did have to add a bit a glitter. This card was made from 2 6 inch circles, 1 with a cute fisherman cutout from the cricut sampler cart. The darkened the edges, used a white gel pen to write the name of the boat which also states the theme of the card. A yellow flower with glitter and a brad for the sun and some cute brad fish for a bit of color......after all the fisherman does need to catch something!!

"To the Happy Couple"

My husbands brother is getting married on July 2nd so today was a great day to get the card made. If i wait too long i end up finishing it right before we leave. The bride chose chocolate and pink for her colors so i wanted to make the card match. The card is 6 x 8 inches. I used the potpourri basket cart to cut out the toasting glasses at 7 inches then edged all the pieces with a gold ink pad. The sweet bow was re-purposed from a gourmet box of graham crackers.....which were dipped in chocolate and fabulous....no before you ask i did not share them with the kids!! The card is completed with his and her glasses.....hers got a little pink flower. Congratulation Mike and Lisa, many happy years together!!!

Here is my card today. Here in upstate NY school has 1 last week left so i really needed to get on the teacher cards. I decided to make a card for the girls bus driver how is wonderful!! My girls get the same bus but at 2 different times.....they go to different schools.... and he is always so nice to all the kids. We have a long driveway and he will wait and beep till he see's the girls come out. Just a real nice man!!! The card was so fun to make, it is 5.75 x 7. I used my cricut to cut out the bus, could and flowers. some patterned paper, flower and glitter and it's all done.

OK so i did my weekly run to my favorite craft store and this time i took my daughters with me....they hate to go craft shopping, i guess i take too long. So i was about a 1/2 hour into my looking at everything and my 2 girls came up behind me and said..."mom...turn around!!!" I never laughed so hard in my life!! Good thing i snapped a quick pic because i think it was a great addition to our father's day cards for the 3 grandpas. I tried to keep the card manly but it is sooooo hard for me to do that, but i think they came out great. 3 of the same card for 3 great men in our lives!!!

this is for my hubby for father's day. He does so much for us that I just want him to nap under his favorite tree all day long. The girls and i will make him lunch and dinner and join him by the tree for a picnic. I hope he likes the card. I tried not to do anything too girlie for him. I was so easy to make. What a cute card to make for that special person on this memorial weekend!! My brother just retired from the 101st airborne division after 20 years of service and i know when he gets this in the mail he will be touched and happy to be thanked for his service. Super easy to make and could be transformed for any event. I started with a 7 by 5 1\2 inch white base then cut strips of red and blue paper for the flag stripes but used white lace for the white stripe to give the card a little something special. With a cute Sassy Cheryl Digi and some markers the card was finished and i love the result!!!

My best friend Lori got married on saturday so I made her this card and made sure it matched the colors of her wedding!! She has picked up my life pieces so many time it was now my turn to make her happy and cry all at the same time. Love ya Lori and T...i would never be me without the two of you....Congratulations!!! The card was such a joy to make i love to make things bling!! I used the Jasmine cart to make 2 diamond shapes one in rose and the other in grey vellum. The "I Do..." was just printed off my computer and then i rounded the edges. It came out great!!

Such a fun card....it made me giggle the whole time i was making it. My best friend gave me this framed quote for christmas because it reminded her of me and i think it made the best humor card. Super easy to make!!! The bright colored papers gave the quote a bit more cheer i think!!

"Feel Better Soon"

Soooo cute for a sick friend!! I just had to use my new cuddlebug, it was killing me just sitting there by my desk staring at me.....lol. This was so easy to make. I cut 2 6 inch circles one yellow for the sun and the other green for the grass. Then a 5 1/2 inch scalloped circle (all using the celebrations cart). I wanted to do something different than my usual rectangle cards. The rest of the card just fell together as i pushed items around my desk. The green button on the bow at the top was such a great find in my desk. It was an extra button that came with a shirt i bought and saved......the shirt is long gone but the button came in handy!!!

It's a great time to think about Christmas.....(if i don't start now the Christmas cards and gifts will not be ready in time....lol). This card was fun to make and special to me. My sister in law had these cute gift tags on all the gifts last year so i grabbed then all and saved them for a rainy day!!! Nothing better than re-purposing. I love the blue and white theme and the lace just makes it a bit more special.

Some thing to do today

Well today was a quiet day at our house. My husband hurt his back Thursday at work and has been in bed so i spent the day doing not much with all the rain around here. I walk by this cute chalkboard hanging on our kitchen wall 20 times a day and finally decided today to do some thing about it. I have had it for 15 years and have always said i would personalize it.......well today was the day!!! I chose some papers to match the frame because i liked the color and didn't want to paint it. Then grabbed a few pics of the girls, the puppies and my fabulous hubby and got to work. Now i walk by it and smile!!!!

So here is how i am starting my summer......by creating a great double layout to remember the weekend that my daughters and i stole!!! We packed our bags and left town. We had a great weekend of firsts. It was the first time we skipped town together, the first time we had a real vacation and the first time my little girls put their toes in the ocean.....what an adventure!! I kept the layout very simple so everytime we look at it all we will see is the simple fun we had. I wanted it to look like the beach and water beacuse that was their favorite part. It was hard to not embelish it all up but i like the fact that you just see the summer fun in their little hearts!!

My oldest daughter Champagne came to me yesterday and asked me to make a special card for her best friend Ali for her birthday today. So as the mom that i am i asked what her favorite colors were so i knew she would love it. Not allot of notice but still fun to make!! I used the celebrations cart to cut 2 scalloped circles out at 5 inches and 4 1/2 inches. With some lime green and hot pink papers i make a card fit for a 14 year old birthday princess.....Happy Birthday Miss Ali!!!

One image two cards.....this was so fun to see two completely different cards come from one image. These are both great cards that i'm sure two of my friends will love!!

I used the potpourri basket cart to make the fence piece out of white paper which i sprayed with the glimmer mist and the walk in my garden cart to make the cute little butterflies. The Sassy Cheryl flower digi was printed on kraft paper then i used the corner punch to round the sharp edges. Sooooo Cute!!!

I wanted to keep this version simple, fun and bright!! I made a 6 inch triangle and a 5 inch rectangle with the celebrations cart, used some great bright paper and a fun card was born.

This is such a great little card to put a smile on anyones face for any reason!! When i first got "betty" my cricut i wanted to see how it worked and the first thing i ever cut was this cute frame from the potpourri basket cart. I save everything i don't use because i may need it later and i finall found the best use for the frame. I glittered it with Martha Stewart glitter in yellow barite and it was just perfect for the card!!!

When I thought about making a graduation card it made me think of our 1 year old bulldog Moose. He was a bit hard to handle so we took him to puppy school which he graduated with flying colors and is much better now. This was so fun to make. I didn't want it to look like every other grad card so i chose a pale lime green for the base and black and white accents.

Well the first one got deleted so im doing it again.....some times technology is not the best. This challenge was perfect. My little sister just had her baby girl at 12:35 am on May 12th and she is soooooo sweet! I used the potpourri basket cart to make the carriage and the celebrations cart to make the card base. It came out so cute just fit for a new little princess!!

Well the first post was deleted during bloggers shut down so here it is again.......I used the Plantin Schoolbook cart to cut out the certificate overlay. Well here it is the cute card I made for the new baby that is due tomorrow, but i think we have a few more days to wait. The bear digi is from Sassy Cheryl and i love it!!!! Fantabulous Cricut Challenge- Three Flowers

This is my entry in the Fantabulous Cricut Challenge - Three Flowers. I just LOVE my Cricut!! This was a great event in our family. every year we go apple picking together and make a whole day of it with a picnic and all the farmers markets so it deserved a special page. I used the Potpourri basket cart for the clouds and apples with basket and the Plantin schoolbook cart for the grass flower line along the bottom which i added a fabric flower to every 3rd one to give it some more color. I love how it came out!!!

"Mom's New Toy"

Well it's finally my turn to make a page for myself. My husband buys the best gifts ever!!! Besides crafting I love to cook so for Christmas I got a new kitchenaid stand mixer.....exactly what I wanted and I made sure he knew it. This page was so fun to make. I found some sweet baking accessories at my local craft store found some great papers in my stash and the page just fell together. My cricut again came in handy for the letters and my cousin Jeni for giving me a tip to help them sparkle....thank you Jeni!!! And I think it came out great.

This is a card I made for my cousin Lee's wedding. It was simple but had just the right touch for the occasion!! Super easy to make, a double fold opening tied with a bow and a simple cut out on the front......with my cricut as usual.....backed by a patterned matching paper. Congratulations Lee and Amber!!!

Well it's time to go on to step 3. I decided to take the purple paper and do something a bit different for me. i measured out on the back of the paper 3/4 inch all around and made small cuts on all 4 sides to create a fringe look. Before i glued it to the patterned paper i chose i decided to spray the paper with glimmer mist in sand to give it a different effect. I attached the purple fringe paper with 4 teal grommets in the corners to tie the 2 colored papers together. As i decided where to put the pics i made 2 paper backings for each pic 1/4 inch larger than the pics and also sprayed them with glimmer mist in sand for the same effect. This page is coming together nicely!!! Stay tuned for the final post when i put all the elements on and finish the page.

Hello again everyone!! On to the next part of making my page. Once I have chosen the pics i want to use, which i chose 2 out of the five i had set aside. I then pick out the papers and embellishments i think i want to use based on two things.....either the colors in the pics or the mood of the pics. Either one will work great for your design!! In this case i used the shirt that my oldest daughter was wearing to get my inspiration. I chose a collection of papers and accessories in lime green, teal blue and black. I may switch out papers or accessories as i work with the layout because i may like a different item as i move things around my desk. Next post i will show you how i start with where items are going to go and what i want to do with the paper i chose.

Well, I seem to show you the finished product so I have decided to show you how I get to that finished result. The first step is to pick out a group of pictures I want to use and decide which ones I would like the most on the page.( Here is a tip I use........every time i print pictures or i receive prints that i have ordered I organize them on my desk in groups of subject or event. I put the in a stand up mail type file from left to right with the pics I plan to use next to the left. When I'm done with a page the pics i did not use get labeled and filed in pretty photo boxes for later viewing. This way the pics on my desk never get to overwhelmimg!!) The finished result i want to show you is a page i am making of my girls horsing around as usual. I had five pictures in this group and looked at them all. I decided to use 2 pictures that i thought looked the cutest. Check out the next post for the next step in my process!!!!

"Dad's new Toy"

My husband had his friend come cut down some large pine trees in our back yard so he just HAD to go buy a new chainsaw so he could cut the trees up. I let him go to the store by himself to get one and he came home with the biggest one he could find!! never again!! This was such a fun page to make. I found a collection of papers to match and that looked semi manley in my stash but my favorite was the packground page that looked like tree bark. I ofcourse used my cricut to cut out the letters, the pine tree and the acorn...too easy!! I trimmed up the cute pics of him and put the page together. He normaly just peeks at the creations i make but this one he really liked.

This is my cousin Amy and I at Darien Lake goofin off and havin lots of fun......as usual!! We had one of those old time pictures done so it needed to be made into a fabulous page. I had one of those ready made kits laying around, i loved the colored pages but do like to make everything myself. I pulled out what i wanted, cut everything apart and used my own layout. Those kits are great for ideas and decorations but they do need a personal touch!! I take them all apart and use them in different ways.

This is our bulldog Shady. Her and i are best friends. you will never find her too far from where ever i am in the house. she is asleep on the floor next to me at the kitchen sink and in my craft room while i am creating. This page shows just how much she means to me. I chose a bright background then some fun dog paper which i cut apart into strips and wove together as a cute base for our picures. i think is came out as cute as she is!!!

I was making letters for a page the other day, I cut them out using my cricut and decided they would make a better statement on the page if they were glittered. What is the best way to do that?? Most of the glitter fell off after they dried and became very frustrating!! HELP

My first blog!!!

well this is my first blog. i wanted a place to share my paper crafting and self expression with other people who have the same interests. hoping i can get a few good tips and ideas and to share my work and ideas with new friends. this is my latested page. my youngest daughter caitlyn and out bulldog shady were asleep in the back of the car on our way home from grama's house. when i looked at the pics the layout just popped onto my desk. most of the time i need to look at a setup for a few days before i glue it in place but sometimes it all falls into place as im doing it. I must say my favorite tool is my cricut!!!
